Student Feedback about learning

An important part of building student voice and agency is asking students how we help them to learn. Student feedback provides us with insights into what really makes a difference to student learning.  The following student comments and photos show how feedback is encouraged in a grade 6 classroom.

“We review Mrs Clover by telling her the things that she can improve on with written feedback.”

– Jack

“We use feedback to help us ask effective questions and improve on our work in the future”

– Zara

“Our Classroom Expectations display helps us celebrate when we’re meeting our classroom expectations and helps encourage people to do those same things.”

- Alfie

“Feedback can be where you ask other students or teachers to help you, but it can also be asking for other people’s opinions on a piece of work.”

– Jess

“The Class Cauldron gives us feedback to know if our whole class behaviours are good or bad.”

– Summer

“Rubrics help us understand criteria and help us know whether we’ve done everything we need to do in a task.”

– Liam

“Our teamwork tracker helps us recognise patterns when we work with some people more than others.”

- Kai

“The teamwork tracker is a great tool for helping us work with other people in the classroom. It tells us who we do and don’t work with more and less commonly, and helps you make decisions about working with other people.”

- Lucas
